Description

IT Intern for the IT department, focused on implementing a complete asset management process in GLPI. The intern will set up and implement asset registration, physical labeling, a standardized issuance process, and automatic generation and storage of signed PDF handover documents. Learning objectives include working with IT asset management processes, setting up and managing an IT service management system, developing process-oriented thinking and optimization, implementing automation within IT environments, and working within a service desk environment.

Tasks

  • Establish a standardized naming convention (Asset ID structure).
  • Register and verify assets in GLPI.
  • Generate and print barcode or QR labels and physically tag all equipment.
  • Test scanning functionality for tagged assets.
  • Define and implement asset lifecycle statuses (in stock, in use, under repair, decommissioned).
  • Set up processes for incoming equipment, issuance to users, returns, and repairs.
  • Create a standardized procedure for issuing equipment and link assets to users.
  • Integrate asset processes with service desk processes and tickets.
  • Design a PDF template for asset issuance and automatically generate documents with user and asset information, date, and terms.
  • Implement a process where the user signs the issuance document, it is scanned and stored, and linked to the ticket and asset.
  • Use plugins and automation within GLPI to improve first-line support efficiency and automate processes where possible.
  • Create clear work instructions, document the complete process, and transfer knowledge to IT staff.
  • Deliverables: all assets registered and physically tagged; a functioning and standardized asset management process; a functional issue process linked to tickets; automatically generated and signed PDF issuance documents; complete documentation of the system and working procedures.
