Job requirements
- Completed higher vocational or university education in environmental science, physical geography, cultural engineering or civil engineering.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the field.
- Knowledge of the Environmental Act in general and specifically of the soil section.
- Entrepreneurial and possessing strong communication skills; you act as the face of the company to the client and think proactively with the client.
- Proficient in spoken and written Dutch, minimum C1 level.
Tasks
- Determining research strategies for soil and environmental issues.
- Advising clients at a strategic level and coordinating with fellow specialists within and outside the department.
- Act as a substantive point of contact for mid-level and junior colleagues and guide their development.
- Combining specialist knowledge with project control and stakeholder management.
- Identifying and capitalizing on commercial opportunities in the market.
- Actively contribute to innovation and knowledge development regarding current themes such as PFAS, Very High Concerns, and emerging substances.
- Connecting various interests, prioritizing within complex projects, and translating laws and regulations into practical solutions.

Description of the organization
You are part of a large network of architects and engineers with thousands of colleagues, and work within the Environmental Consultancy business unit from Groningen in a team of approximately seven consultants, specialists, and project managers.
The team works in an integrated and multidisciplinary manner on projects in the fields of soil, environment, and area development for provinces, municipalities, and industrial clients. Examples include area developments, water storage areas, infrastructure projects linked to the energy transition, remediation plans for depleted natural gas extraction sites, and long-term groundwater monitoring at landfills.
Work is being done on complex soil and groundwater remediation projects, in which current themes such as PFAS, substances of very high concern (SVHCs), plant protection products, and other emerging substances play a key role. You will have the opportunity to participate in national knowledge groups and innovation projects and to collaborate with experts from home and abroad.
