Maintenance Engineer WTB
Technical specialist responsible for plant management and maintenance optimization in a production environment.
Leads maintenance planning, SAP maintenance management, and root-cause analyses for complex failures.
Requires a technical higher professional education, experience in maintenance management, and a good command of Dutch and English.
Description
You are responsible for the optimal balance between technical performance, costs, and risks. As a specialist and point of contact for plant management, applied methods, and work processes, you proactively propose improvements. You work in a team of eight colleagues on projects that contribute to the reliability of the plant and report to the Team Leader Maintenance Engineering. The position is provisional until March 31, 2027.
Job requirements
- At least a completed technical higher professional education, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Technical Business Administration.
- Knowledge of and relevant years of experience in maintenance technology and management in a production environment (corrective, planned corrective, condition-based planned, and predictive).
- Knowledge and experience of working in SAP.
- Drive to improve and application of LEAN methodologies.
- High safety awareness, good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Good command of the Dutch and English language.
- Motivation to develop further is appreciated if not all requirements are met.
Tasks
- Responsible for technical availability, costs, and compliance with statutory and due care activities.
- Monitoring and analyzing the condition of equipment and translating this into a long-term maintenance plan as input for annual and investment plans.
- Managing maintenance plans in SAP for preventive maintenance (statutory and duty of care) and for Stops/Turnarounds.
- Applying diagnostic techniques, such as root cause analysis, to complex failures; diagnosing and implementing improvements.
- Initiating improvements via Change Requests (RSRs) within the Management of Change (MoC) procedure.
- Acting as project leader or project team member on (multidisciplinary) new construction, conversion, and modification projects and providing input for maintenance concepts.
Working conditions
- Almost ten weeks of vacation per year: four weeks statutory and six extra weeks that can be taken, paid out, or saved up.

Description of the organization
Global producer of aramid fibers with customers in dozens of countries. The products are used in automotive, ballistic protection, marine, wind energy, civil engineering, protective clothing, and optical cables, among others. Approximately 275 people work at the production site in Delfzijl. In four independent chemical plants, the para-aramid polymer is manufactured in multiple complex steps, which forms the basis for the high-quality aramid fiber Twaron. After drying, the polymer is packaged and transported to another production site for further processing into fiber.
