Climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution require concrete solutions. As an Environmental Sciences trainee, you'll work on environmental issues within the public sector, connecting ecology, policy, and practice.

Job requirements

  • Completed higher professional or university education in environmental science, biology, ecology, applied earth sciences, environmental science, soil/water/air, nature management or a similar field.
  • Analytical and practical: ability to conduct research and translate it into advice.
  • Communication skills: able to explain complex environmental topics to non-specialists.
  • Excellent command of the Dutch language, both written and spoken, is required for participation in the traineeship.

Tasks

  • Ecological research: inventories of flora and fauna, effects of developments on nature, and Natura 2000 assessments.
  • Soil and water: conducting or assessing soil research, assessing groundwater quality, and implementing remediation plans.
  • Sustainability projects: contributing to energy transition, circular economy and climate adaptation.
  • Advisory services: assessing environmental permits, providing sustainability advice, and advising on nature-inclusive construction.
  • Supporting enforcement: checks on compliance with environmental legislation.
  • Communication: informing residents and businesses about environmental issues.
