Description

The Entrance Student Award recognizes MBO, HBO and WO students in the Northern Netherlands who make innovative contributions to the energy and materials transition. It is presented annually during the New Energy Forum on 18 June 2026 to encourage students to continue making an impact.

Job requirements

  • Eligibility: students from vocational (mbo), universities of applied sciences (hbo), or research universities (wo) in the Northern Netherlands who, individually or as a group, completed a project during the 2025–2026 academic year.
  • Selection criteria:
    • Trailblazing: the project shows surprising, innovative perspectives or approaches accelerating the transition.
    • Impact: the project produces visible, tangible change in how energy or raw materials are used or managed.
    • Persuasiveness: the project communicates its value and implementation potential clearly and convincingly.
    • The Future: the award should help the applicant continue contributing to the energy and materials transition.

Tasks

  • Submit a video (maximum 5 minutes) explaining the project results in relation to the award criteria.
  • Grant Entrance permission to use the submitted video in the lead-up to and during the New Energy Forum.
  • Submit a written or visual elaboration of the project (open format, eg thesis, photos of practical outcomes, or a presentation).
  • Lecturers and collaborating companies are encouraged to motivate students to apply.

Working conditions

Prizes of €1.500, €1.000 and €500 are awarded. Winning groups receive the prize amount collectively, not per individual.
