Description
As Maintenance Manager, you professionalize the maintenance organisation and lead the transition from a reactive to a proactive maintenance culture. You report to the Operations Manager and serve as a sparring partner for the Production Manager. The role is currently approximately 70% operational and 30% tactical/strategic, with the ambition to bring this to 50/50.
Job requirements
- Completed higher professional or university degree in a technical field (for example, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering).
- Experience in a managerial maintenance position within a production environment, preferably in the food industry.
- Demonstrable experience with change management and professionalizing a technical service.
- Knowledge of maintenance management systems; experience with McMain is a plus.
- Good communication skills in Dutch and English.
- Vision on maintenance and capacity to translate this into concrete plans and actions.
- Leadership: creates support, brings people along in change, and coaches the team.
- Pragmatic, prioritizing, and analytical; able to understand processes and make suggestions for improvement.
- Strong collaboration skills and visibility on the shop floor to connect with other disciplines, such as production.
Tasks
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance plan to increase the reliability of the machinery and minimize downtime.
- Leading, coaching, and developing the team of mechanics and encouraging greater ownership within the team.
- Develop and manage maintenance budgets and perform analyses for make-or-buy decisions.
- Ensuring compliance with legal requirements and obligations regarding maintenance, safety and the environment (including steam inspections, energy-saving obligations, wastewater).
- Act as a point of contact for external parties such as suppliers and government agencies (municipality, water board).
- Optimizing maintenance processes and initiating improvement projects, for example further development of the nut production line.
Working conditions
This is a key position with a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to build and professionalize a maintenance organisation. The benefits package includes, among other things, 25 vacation days, 9,5 compensatory time off days, a year-end bonus of 4,25%, and a pension scheme.
Description of the organisation
Producer and distributor of organic and biodynamic preserves, soups, sauces, and nut butters for brands and private labels. The company combines traditional craftsmanship with modern production techniques and has multiple production sites and a diverse fleet of machinery, ranging from seasonal vegetable lines to 24-hour peanut production. The organisation focuses on sustainability throughout the entire chain (from cultivation to packaging) and supplies health food stores and large retailers. The company continues to grow and develop.
The technical department consists of eight mechanics and a work planner. The team possesses extensive technical knowledge, currently works largely reactively, and wishes to receive more responsibility and involvement in improvement projects. There is a cultural ambition towards proactive action and further development of the team.
