Communications adviser
Description
We are looking for a communications advisor who thrives in a versatile role where visibility, engagement, and independence are central. You report to the office manager and independently gather information, topics, and ongoing matters from the Board of Directors and the management team. You are visible within the organisation, speak with colleagues, and translate current events into clear, appropriate communication. You work closely with the Board of Directors and the management team and have regular contact with communications colleagues within the group. Both strategic and operational communication tasks are part of your daily work.
Job requirements
- Ability to quickly delve into technical subjects such as waste processing, energy production, and industrial processes.
- Visible, proactive, and curious; actively seeks contact with colleagues at all levels.
- Can move easily between the shop floor and management and understand different perspectives and interests.
- Service-oriented attitude and result-driven work.
- Clear, pleasant, and approachable communication; good oral and written expression skills in Dutch and English. Knowledge of German is an advantage, or a willingness to learn it.
- Relevant work experience in the field of communication at a higher professional education level.
- At home in an industrial environment with a practical and creative way of working.
- The ability to work well independently, set priorities, and remain calm and effective in the face of unexpected situations.
- I enjoy working in a small team with short lines of communication and actively gathering information and stories within the organisation.
Tasks
- Advising the Board of Directors, management team, and departments at a strategic and operational level on internal and external communication.
- Developing, planning, and monitoring the communication strategy for the location and translating it into concrete plans and resources.
- Monitoring developments within the organisation, including at partner branches, and ensuring timely and appropriate communication.
- Managing communication surrounding projects, meetings, trade fairs, and events, and assisting with setup and execution.
- Writing and editing newsletters, internal messages, articles, social media content, intranet information, and other communication materials.
- Acting as spokesperson and liaison for the media, including drafting press releases.
- Contribute to connection and visibility within the organisation.
- Managing the location's websites and keeping communication materials up to date.

Description of the organisation
The Delfzijl site is one of the best-performing and most progressive locations within an international Energy-from-Waste group. The group has been planning, building, and operating waste processing plants for approximately 30 years and is the market leader in Germany, with a total of 17 modern facilities spread across Germany, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Currently, around 110–115 employees in Delfzijl are working on a more sustainable future. Investments are being made in a circular future, and new, innovative facilities will be built in the coming years, with the number of employees expected to grow by approximately 20%.
