Description
As an environmental permit officer, you assess and manage permit applications and notifications, with special attention to open ground energy systems (OBES).
You work within multidisciplinary teams to protect and improve the quality of the living environment for clients in the region.
Job requirements
- Relevant higher professional education diploma, preferably in Earth Sciences, Hydrology, Geohydrology or Land and Water Management.
- Knowledge of waste materials and/or the process industry.
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including developments regarding the Environment and Planning Act.
- Experience with assessing geohydrological model calculations and performing simple calculations.
- Ability to make comprehensive assessments and separate main issues from minor ones.
- Good communication skills, written and oral, and political-administrative sensitivity.
- Maintain an overview of the planning of applications and ensure an appropriate division of labor.
Tasks
- Monitoring the quality of the living environment and minimizing negative environmental impacts of waste and industrial companies.
- Managing the entire permit granting process and maintaining contact with companies and other government organizations.
- Assessing the admissibility of the environmental component of notifications and (multiple) applications.
- Advising on and/or drafting decisions to grant, refuse, or revoke environmental permits, particularly for OBES.
- Processing notifications under the Living Environment Activities Decree and the Environment Plan.
- Working on the basis of representative measurement data, substantiated calculations or risk analyses, and drafting customized regulations and consenting decisions.
- Identifying which environmental specialists and legal experts need to be engaged and assessing their contributions for relevance and applicability.
- Assessing geohydrological (model) calculations and independently performing simple calculations.
- Consult with internal and external parties and advise on geothermal energy plans and the procedures to be followed.
