Policy Officer Energy Transition
Energy Transition Policy Officer responsible for developing and implementing local energy policy.
Required: completed HBO or WO education and fluent Dutch.
You work through Xstate, seconded to a municipality within a sustainability team.
Description
As an Energy Transition Policy Officer, you work on solutions that have an impact on the future: from sustainable energy generation and making homes more sustainable to involving residents in local initiatives. You connect vision with implementation, bring people together, and translate complex issues into clear policy, creating a sustainable and future-proof living environment.
Job requirements
- Completed higher professional or university education, for example in urban planning, sustainability, public administration, energy technology or environmental science.
- Knowledge of or affinity with the energy transition, sustainability or policy development.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to connect parties.
- Strategic thinking ability, with the capacity to quickly switch to execution.
- Analytical, results-oriented, and able to maintain an overview of complex projects.
- Experience within a municipal or political-administrative environment is an advantage.
- Fluent Dutch is required.
Tasks
- Developing and guiding municipal policy in the field of sustainable energy generation, home sustainability, and the heat transition.
- Supporting and contributing to the implementation of projects within the energy transition.
- Advising the executive board and council on policy choices and implementation projects.
- Serve as a point of contact for residents, businesses and partners.
- Organizing and supervising local energy initiatives and village processes.
- Translating national and regional objectives into municipal policy.
- Monitoring progress and reporting on results within the energy transition.
- Ensure coherence with other themes such as housing, mobility and spatial development.

You will be seconded via Xstate to a municipality in your region, within a team working on sustainability and the energy transition. Together with colleagues and residents, you will contribute to a climate-neutral future. The work atmosphere is open, professional, and informal, with room for initiative and collaboration. Through Xstate, you can also work for municipalities in other regions, ensuring there is often an assignment close to home.
