Description
As an independent Instrumentation Engineer (Focal Point), you provide specialist knowledge in the field of instrumentation for specific equipment and complex process installations within Gasunie assets. You execute assignments based on your own professional assessment and methodology, delivering pre-agreed results. In this role, you work at a strategic and tactical level on policy issues, contract management, and innovation, and escalate to the operational level in the event of complex malfunctions and maintenance-related issues.
Job requirements
- Higher professional education in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, or similar.
- Up-to-date knowledge of measurement and control technology, ATEX, process control, pneumatic and electronic control technology, analytical equipment, and automation.
- Experience within maintenance organizations and maintenance engineering.
- Willingness to travel within the Netherlands and occasionally internationally.
- Good command of Dutch and English.
- Ability to work independently and make own substantive choices within the boundaries of the assignment.
- Skill to weigh interests and translate technical complexity into concrete advice.
Tasks
- Based in Groningen; assignment executed on a hybrid basis, with approximately 50% on location (various sites in the Netherlands) and approximately 50% in Groningen/hybrid.
- Acting as the authority for the areas of expertise of accounting measurement traffic, field instrumentation, analysis measurements, odorization, and mobile measurement systems, with a focus on accounting measurement traffic.
- Drafting system policy plans and aligning these plans with internal stakeholders such as asset management, field organization, project engineers, and mechanical engineers.
- Periodically analyze the performance of systems within the area of expertise, report to stakeholders, and ensure follow-up.
- Supporting the reliability engineer with continuous maintenance optimization processes.
- Providing 2nd-line support; performing root cause analyses for structural failures.
- Drafting specifications and maintenance instructions for colleagues within Operations; acting in an advisory and supportive capacity.
- Conducting structured consultations with technicians working in regions and at installations.
- Providing input for standardization, optimization, and innovation; investigating sustainability opportunities and translating them into new policies and standards.
- Acting as a point of contact regarding applicable laws, regulations, and standards; participating in working groups within and outside Gasunie.
Working conditions
- Open to various contract forms; salaried candidates are classified in accordance with the applicable collective labour agreement; when hiring via suppliers, the agreed rates and conditions apply in accordance with the mediation agreement.
- Hire term: 13-04-2026 to 01-04-2027.
- Fixed 13th month (holiday pay) and 14th month.
- 20 vacation days for full-time employment; up to a maximum of 27,5 additional leave days can be purchased with a flexible choice budget.
- Travel allowance: commuting allowance of €0,23 per km.
- Monthly work-from-home allowance of €24,50 net.

This includes the management of transport assets, project execution, and infrastructure maintenance, including local emergency response, damage repair, and replacement and expansion investments. The E&I Technical Expertise Centre focuses on asset management and maintenance with experts in the fields of electrical engineering and instrumentation.
