As a Sustainable Heritage Advisor, you advise on modifications to characteristic buildings and monuments, with a particular focus on sustainability and the preservation of cultural-historical values.
Job requirements
- HBO working and thinking level.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience with restoration and monument conservation and the sustainable preservation of heritage.
- Experience in assessing building plans and heritage dossiers.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations in the field of heritage and sustainability, and the ability to apply this practically.
- Familiarity with sustainability measures and subsidies.
- Preferably several years of experience in a similar role at a municipality.
- Ability to convey the message clearly and firmly, both verbally and in writing; ability to work under time pressure.
Tasks
- Assessing applications for environmental permits and providing specialist advice on heritage and sustainability.
- Providing advice on alterations to characteristic buildings and monuments based on the Environment Plan and municipal policy frameworks.
- Contributing ideas for suitable solutions for sustainability measures and circularity.
- Writing clear advice for case managers regarding preliminary consultations, environmental permits, and enforcement requests.
- Provide explanations to the municipal Spatial Quality Commission where necessary.
- Maintaining contact with heritage owners, architects, and contractors, and collaborating closely with policy officers and project managers within the municipality.
- Contribute to projects by providing heritage and sustainability frameworks and contributing ideas regarding development opportunities.

Description of the organisation
You work at the Environmental Planning department of the Urban Development Directorate. This directorate is responsible for vision and strategic policy development on themes such as housing, spatial economy, quality of life, energy transition, and mobility.
You provide advice within the Spatial Quality and Heritage team, together with advisors on spatial quality, monuments, cultural history, architectural history, and archaeology. You work closely with colleagues within your own department and with the Permitting, Supervision and Enforcement, Strategy & Policy, and Design departments.
