Description of the organisation
The Municipality of Leeuwarden adopted the European strategy 'Leeuwarden in Europe 2022-2026' in early 2022. Towards Europe, the municipality focuses on themes such as energy transition, climate adaptation, circular economy, active mobility, and campus development. Additionally, the new European Commission places greater emphasis on competitiveness and security, creating a dynamic context to respond to.
With over 130.000 inhabitants, Leeuwarden is the largest municipality in Fryslân and the administrative, economic, and cultural center of gravity of the province. The organisation is energetic and shapes governance, policy, and development, with an informal working atmosphere and room for personal development.
