Process operator
Description
The position involves operating and monitoring the fermentation plant at Ecopark De Wierde in Heerenveen. You will work both from the control room and inside the plant itself, and be part of one of the five shifts. Each shift consists of four operators and a shift supervisor; working in small teams and good cooperation are essential.
Job requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a process operator.
- A completed MBO education at level 3 or 4 in process technology is an advantage.
- Willingness to undergo internal training to fully understand the installation.
- Enthusiastic and eager to learn, with an active attitude towards continuous improvement.
- Good communication skills to organize coordination with colleagues.
- Accurate work, a healthy dose of humor, and a willingness to work in five shifts.
Tasks
- Operating and monitoring the fermentation plant from the control room.
- Process adjustments where necessary to maintain a safe and efficient fermentation process.
- Can be used in the fermentation plant, the DANO drum and on the shovel.
- Prevent and resolve malfunctions and blockages; intervene immediately in the event of deviations.
- Pretreatment of the organic wet fraction (OWF) and dewatering of the digestate.
- Ensuring a safe and clean working environment and contributing to sustainable process improvements.

Description of the organisation
This organisation is one of the largest green gas producers in the Northern Netherlands and a frontrunner in the separation of household waste.
At Ecopark De Wierde in Heerenveen, organic waste is processed in reactors via the fermentation plant to produce as much biogas as possible. This biogas is used for part of the vehicle fleet and also supplies gas to thousands of households. The fermentation plant forms an important part of the recycling process and turns waste into raw material for new applications.
