Description of the organization
The Municipality of Leeuwarden is working on a sustainable, livable, and climate-resilient public space for the city and villages. Together with residents and businesses, the municipality strives for social cohesion, opportunities for everyone, affordable housing, and a circular economy. Working for the municipality means contributing to societal impact in an informal and creative work environment.
The Outdoor Space Design and Management Sector focuses on the design, maintenance, and improvement of both above- and underground components of public space. The Business Office team is responsible for long-term management, maintenance, and initiating component replacements, scheduling work activities, and translating policy objectives into concrete results. Work is carried out on the public value of blue (water and sewerage), grey (pavements, civil engineering structures, public lighting, and traffic control systems), and green (green management, trees, nature), with attention to sustainability, greening, and circularity. The cluster consists of approximately 400 colleagues distributed across multiple teams.
