Description
Account Manager Economic Affairs (Circular Economy) within the Economic Services team of the Municipality of Leeuwarden. You are the primary point of contact for entrepreneurs and advise the Executive Board and Management on circular economic developments.
Job requirements
- Completed higher professional or university education, preferably in economics, business administration, or a similar field.
- Demonstrable experience in account management, business development, or relationship management within an economically relevant field.
- Knowledge of or experience with the circular economy.
- Experience with public-private partnerships and the development of economic projects or programs.
- Ability to translate market developments into concrete opportunities and results.
- Proactive, analytical, and connecting; capable of bringing together diverse interests into feasible initiatives with economic impact.
- Over time, it may be requested that an additional transition sector be added to the work package.
Tasks
- Strengthening Leeuwarden as a location for existing and new circular businesses and startups.
- Stimulating innovation and guiding startups to scale-ups.
- Driving circular raw material chains, such as concrete and food.
- Connecting relevant parties and mobilizing networks on business parks.
- Identifying market developments and translating them into concrete initiatives and recommendations.
- Advising the board, management, and colleagues as a subject matter specialist.
- Directly contribute to economic growth, employment, and a future-proof regional circular economy.
Working conditions
Permanent position starting with a one-year contract and the intention to convert this into permanent employment.

Description of the organisation
With over 130.000 inhabitants, the municipality of Leeuwarden is the administrative, economic, and cultural center of Fryslân, featuring a historic center and 35 villages.
The municipality is distinctive in the economic fields of water & soil, food/dairy, and circularity, visible at the WaterCampus and Dairy Campus, among others.
Together with RUG Campus Fryslân and the Energy Campus, there is a strong knowledge base for the transition to a circular economy.
The Economic Affairs team is part of the Area Development, Economy, Energy and Strategic Staff sector and consists of the Economic Services and Economic Policy teams. The team has over 30 employees and develops and implements policy for the economy, tourism, and recreation, together with entrepreneurs, educational institutions, and other government bodies.
