Description
Senior fundraiser for endowment funds and foundations at the Ubbo Emmius Fund (UEF) of the University of Groningen. You seek financial support for larger scientific projects for which no regular funding is available and build lasting relationships with domestic and international funds and foundations.
Job requirements
- Completed university education or equivalent level of work and thinking.
- At least five years of relevant experience in fundraising in the non-profit sector.
- Demonstrable experience with fundraising from endowment funds and foundations and generating income from these target groups.
- Experience with CRM systems for relationship management.
- Good writing skills for project proposals and reports.
- Excellent communication and networking skills; you move easily among entrepreneurs, scientists, executives, and philanthropists.
- Proactive, enterprising, creative, flexible, and a reliable team player with a results-oriented attitude.
- Excellent command of Dutch and English, spoken and written.
- Affinity with academic education, research, and the societal role of the university.
- A strong network with endowment funds and foundations is a plus.
Tasks
- Soliciting and approaching funds and organizations that align with the objectives of the UEF.
- Maintaining and expanding relationships with existing and new funds, aimed at long-term partnerships.
- Collaborating with researchers and administrators to identify promising projects and position them for fundraising.
- Managing named funds, including monitoring the application process and project progress.
Working conditions
- Terms of employment in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
- End-of-year bonus of 8,3% and holiday allowance of 8%.

University Services supports education, research, and operations and collaborates with faculties and other service departments.
You work in the Alumni Relations and Fundraising department, a close-knit team of about ten colleagues within the Corporate & International Affairs staff department. The team works closely with Communications and International Relations regarding events, social media, and relationship management (CRM).
The Ubbo Emmius Fund (UEF) is an independent foundation that supports research and education and functions as a hybrid university fund. The UEF funds projects within the themes of energy transition and climate, health and well-being, a sustainable society, and digitalization and AI, with funding ranging from a few hundred thousand to millions of euros.
