Description
As an Air Advisor, you work on issues related to the emission of substances into the air, primarily from industrial companies. You act as a substantive sparring partner for fellow advisors and support permit issuers and regulators with specialist advice.
Job requirements
- Completed higher vocational or university education.
- Several years of relevant work experience.
- Preferably completed the Air Pollution, Air Quality and Deposition (VVM) and PAOTM training courses, or willing to complete them.
- Preferably knowledge of the (process) industry, chemical substances, emission-reducing techniques, European and national legislation and regulations regarding air emissions, and physical/chemical processes in the atmosphere.
- Curious and proactive, with well-developed project management and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to engage in dialogue with companies where necessary; strong communication skills and political sensitivity.
Tasks
- Assessing permit applications for new and modified businesses, including the review of air quality studies and odor reports.
- Assessing whether the best available techniques are applied and recording emission limit values and monitoring obligations in permits.
- Conducting distribution studies and updating outdated permits in response to new insights or stricter legislation.
- Supporting regulators by assessing measurement reports and results from continuous monitoring systems, supervising on-site measurements, and verifying compliance with measurement obligations and emission limit values.
- Assessing annual environmental reports and documentation, including the avoidance and reduction program for substances of very high concern (SVHCs).
- Providing policy advice to competent authorities, for example on environmental plans, in collaboration with other environmental services and government bodies such as RIVM, GGD, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
