Description
As a Mechanical Engineering Project Manager within Service & Maintenance in Groningen, you manage short-term utility projects within existing client environments, such as sustainability upgrades, replacements, improvement projects, and maintenance order activities. You are responsible for the entire project from preparation to delivery and monitor planning, quality, safety, and collaboration within the team.
Job requirements
- HBO working and thinking level in Mechanical Engineering or Installation Technology.
- Experience in installation technology or utilities.
- Experience in a coordinating or managerial role.
- VCA VOL or willingness to obtain it through the organization.
- Technical knowledge combined with natural leadership, a good overview, and clear communication.
- Remains calm and structured when faced with multiple simultaneous projects or during busy periods.
- Enjoys working collaboratively and derives energy from guiding colleagues.
Tasks
- Managing mechanical engineering projects within existing utility environments.
- Act as the point of contact for clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and the project team.
- Collaborating with contract managers, work planners, and chief mechanics.
- Monitoring planning, quality, budgets, and progress, and adjusting where necessary.
- Ensuring safe execution through workplace inspections and quality controls.
- Maintain an overview, create structure, and ensure that teams work together comfortably.
- Contributing ideas for improvements, sustainability, and technical optimizations for clients.
- Guiding colleagues in their development and being visibly present within the team.

You will join the Groningen branch, working with approximately 90 colleagues within Service & Maintenance. You will collaborate with work planners, chief mechanics, service technicians, and contract teams on technical installations and sustainable solutions in the Northern Netherlands. Clients are primarily found within municipalities, government agencies, schools, healthcare institutions, and other non-residential environments.
