In this role, you contribute to a clean and sustainable living environment by managing, improving, and troubleshooting the sewage system. You prepare major maintenance projects and act as the internal client for execution via the municipal engineering firm. You work independently, translate objectives into concrete management and maintenance plans, and deliver visible results for residents.
Job requirements
- MBO/HBO working and thinking level.
- Some experience as a sewer manager or in a similar position.
- Technical knowledge of sewage systems, or willingness to acquire this knowledge.
- Knowledge of and experience with a management system.
- Good communication skills and the ability to deal with sometimes critical residents and stakeholders.
- Independent and enterprising; strong sense of responsibility; accurate; customer- and quality-oriented.
- Team player with a positive attitude. Work experience with a municipality is a plus; experience in the construction industry is welcome.
- A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is required for this position.
Tasks
- Managing the municipality's wastewater, rainwater, and groundwater systems.
- Responsible, together with a colleague, for maintaining and improving the sewage system.
- Translating objectives into concrete management and maintenance plans.
- Preparing and (having) executing major (maintenance) projects arising from the Water and Sewerage Programme (PWR).
- Act as internal client for the municipal engineering firm and monitor project finances.
- Resolving malfunctions and other problems in the sewage system.
- Contribute ideas regarding innovations in the field of climate adaptation and sustainability, and collaborate with market parties on new developments.

Description of the organization
The City Management Directorate plays a key role in the management and maintenance of public space, aimed at creating a pleasant and sustainable living environment. The BOR department is responsible for the management and maintenance of technical and complex objects such as sewerage, trees, lighting, greenery, waste, civil engineering structures, bridges, and roads. An informal atmosphere prevails within the team, and externally, the team acts as a professional sparring partner.
