Private Law Jurist

As a private law lawyer, you contribute to the legal frameworks and advice surrounding the energy transition, with a focus on topics such as security of energy supply, geothermal energy, CO2 and hydrogen storage, and nuclear energy.

You work within the Deep Subsurface and Nuclear Energy department on legally complex cases and provide early legal input for policy development.

• University degree in law.
• Knowledge of private law.
• Experience with legal advice, contract negotiations, or litigation; experience with public-private partnerships is an advantage.

• Conducting contract negotiations and drafting various types of contracts and covenants.
• Providing legal advice on topics related to the energy transition, including public-private partnerships.
• Collaborating on dossiers with policy colleagues, other ministries, executive agencies, and participating policies.
• Guiding civil proceedings and arbitrations, and handling disputes, objections, and appeals.
• Drafting and reviewing subsidy regulations and contributing to legislative procedures.
• Advising from the start of policy processes and providing legal frameworks for policy development.
• As a junior (S11), work in close collaboration with an experienced colleague and gain experience with legislation and procedures; as a senior (S12), work independently on files of average complexity.

The Directorate of Legislation and Legal Affairs (WJZ) is a staff directorate that supports the ministers and policy departments of the Ministries of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature in legal and administrative matters.

WJZ works in a task-oriented manner within clusters and focuses on tasks such as the creation of legislation and regulations, legal advice, and handling objection and appeal cases. Approximately 200 people work within the Directorate.

The activities are organized into several departments, including Economic Affairs, Climate & Energy, Deep Subsurface and Nuclear Energy, Agriculture & Food Quality, Nature & Nitrogen, Legal Advice & Objections and Appeals (JABB), and Governance and Quality.
