Description
Study Advisor at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences (GMW). You are the point of contact for students with support questions and contribute to their study progress and well-being.
Job requirements
- Completed university Master's degree, preferably in the Social Sciences.
- Experience with and/or affinity for advising and guiding students and knowledge of relevant regulations.
- Excellent command of conversational techniques, with a good balance between engagement, empathy, tact, and professionalism.
- Empathy, results-orientation, good oral and written communication skills, and integrity.
- Ability to work independently while simultaneously collaborating in a team with shared responsibility.
- Experience presenting to large groups of students and excellent command of the English language.
- Good organizational skills and a hands-on mentality.
Tasks
- Advising and guiding (international) students with study-related questions and problems in individual conversations, open consultation hours, scheduled appointments, via email, and during meetings.
- Providing information and advice regarding the study program, study progress, options, workload, and study behavior.
- Conducting planning meetings with students.
- Providing information and advice regarding arrangements for study delays and processing applications such as examination accommodations and admission.
- Informing prospective students about study content, workload, electives, and career opportunities, including during information days.
- Contact lecturers and the Examination Board regarding individual arrangements for students.
- Developing proactive activities to promote student well-being and satisfaction.
Working conditions

Description of the organization
The Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences focuses on research and education regarding behaviour, thinking, learning, and living together. The faculty works on social issues of daily life with attention to individual and societal resilience.
Areas of focus are migration, environment and climate, health, upbringing and education, protection of vulnerable minorities, and sustainable partnerships. More than 650 staff members work within the faculty.
