Description
As an Environmental Advisor, you are a broad specialist and a key link within the physical living environment. The emphasis is on project-based work and substantive advice in the spirit of the Environment and Planning Act, whereby the environment is integrated into decision-making.
Job requirements
- CV of no more than 3 A4 pages and a cover letter of no more than 2 A4 pages.
- Completed higher professional education in Environmental Science.
- Familiarity with the Environment and Planning Act and municipal processes, demonstrable from previous work experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant and recent work experience in a similar position within the past 5 years.
- In possession of a valid Certificate of Conduct (no older than 3 months and relevant to the position) or willing to apply for one.
- The candidate is employed by the registering party; self-employed professionals are not eligible.
- Desired qualifications: work experience within a municipal organization, experience with environmental advice and the assessment of initiatives, and experience with independently making calculations and substantive assessments.
Tasks
- Project-based environmental advice on initiatives and applications.
- Independently assess and substantiate environmental compatibility.
- Calculating and assessing aspects such as noise, odor, air quality, external safety, and light pollution.
- Assessing initiatives and plans against legislation, regulations, and policy frameworks.
- Justifying deviations from the environmental plan.
- Contribute from the outset of initiatives so that the environment is fully incorporated into decision-making.
- Contribute to the (further) development of municipal environmental policy where necessary.
Working conditions
- Start date: July 1, 2026.
- Duration: 6 months.
- Type of assignment: interlancing / secondment.
- The position is classified in scale 10 of the Municipalities Collective Labour Agreement.
- Registration is only possible for parties that provide salaried personnel; registrations by self-employed professionals, private limited companies with only a director-major shareholder, or via intermediaries will not be included.
- In case of doubt, the municipality may request additional documentation to verify the nature of the employment; failure to comply may lead to exclusion.

Within the municipality of Achtkarspelen, temporary reinforcement has been sought for the environment team within the BARS (Policy, Advice, Spatial Planning and Social Affairs) department due to long-term illness and understaffing.
