Realizing Center

A logistics center is being developed at the Leeksterveld business park, directly adjacent to the A7 motorway. This center will serve as a hub for the distribution of parcels, general cargo, and pallets to and from Groningen and Friesland, and as a starting point for fine-meshed distribution throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. The planned center will have a layout tailored to current logistical and technological requirements: a cross-dock with three times the current capacity, a parcel sorting hall for the efficient processing of packages and oversized goods, fast-charging facilities at all docks allowing trucks to be charged simultaneously, and a modern truck workshop for maintenance and renovation according to the latest standards. Solar panels on the roof and smart battery storage ensure sustainable energy that is efficiently utilized for operations and on-site vehicle charging. There is sufficient connection capacity to facilitate future expansions.

The new hub offers a safe, healthy, and pleasant working environment; the building is being designed to the BREEAM Excellent standard. Separate traffic routes for trucks, passenger cars, and pedestrians will be provided for added safety. A large proportion of the employee parking spaces will be equipped with charging stations to facilitate sustainable mobility. Additionally, approximately 10% of the total site will be landscaped with greenery, contributing to biodiversity and a pleasant working environment. Optimal workspaces and modern office spaces will be provided for the central departments.

The organization focuses on the logistical distribution of parcels, general cargo, and pallets, and prioritizes electrification, sustainability, and attractive workplaces. The development of the new center is being overseen by an external partner, Volantess.
