Description
You will work on complex waste permit files within a professional environment, with room for development and knowledge exchange with fellow experts. The waste sector is in flux due to stricter requirements regarding Substances of Very High Concern, the transition to a circular economy, and increasing societal pressure, making files complex and requiring in-depth knowledge and keen judgment.
Job requirements
- Several years of experience as an environmental waste permit issuer or in a similar position.
- Relevant higher professional education, preferably Environmental Science.
- Current knowledge of environmental legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge of relevant developments such as the transition to a circular economy and the approach to Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs).
- Decisive and solution-oriented, while maintaining an overview of the process.
- Seeks collaboration and shares knowledge, both internally and externally.
- Can persuade in plain language, both in writing and orally.
Tasks
- Together with colleagues, get straight to work on complex permit applications from waste processing companies.
- Assessing the environmental impact of (new) business activities and applying relevant laws and regulations.
- Identify which specialists (such as water, noise, or air) need to be engaged and assess their contribution.
- Monitoring the scheduling of legal proceedings.
- Collaborate closely with fellow permit issuers, legal experts, and environmental inspectors, and advise municipalities and the province.
- Visiting companies to assess business processes on-site.
- Participate in knowledge networks and contribute to professional consultations.
- Contribute to substantive team development and monitor quality by conducting four-eyes checks.
