Description

Project Controller within the Finance & Control department, responsible for financial control and advice regarding research projects operating under specific grant or funding conditions or carried out on behalf of external parties. The role requires an independent professional who identifies and addresses issues and supports the academic staff and the Faculty Board with project applications, management, and decision-making.

Job requirements

  • Higher professional education background, preferably in Business Economics.
  • Extensive experience with office applications (including Excel, Word, and Access); experience with AFAS is a plus.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language.
  • Work experience in a complex, professional non-profit organization.
  • Familiarity with accounting applications is a plus.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive, customer-oriented attitude.
  • Required competencies: analytical skills, persuasiveness, stress resistance, planning and organizing, and result orientation.

Tasks

  • Guiding and providing financial and tax advice to project leaders and business coordinators regarding (the preparation of) project negotiations.
  • Assessing financial feasibility, performing cost calculations, and preparing project cost estimates.
  • Proactive risk management and regular monitoring of project budgets.
  • Monitoring the application of laws and regulations and internal guidelines and frameworks.
  • Performing internal controls on project reporting, including interim cost calculations and analysis of differences between pre- and post-calculation.
  • Verification of accurate, complete, and timely reporting of project hours.
  • Initiating the creation of sales invoices, marking projects as completed, and closing projects.
  • Preparation of external project reports, including for the auditor and financiers.
  • Providing information and reports on the financial progress of projects for project managers and business coordinators.
  • Management of the digital project file, facilitating lead role, and maintaining external contacts.

Working conditions

Terms of employment in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.

  • Flexible employment situation with possibilities to adjust hours in consultation, including part-time/full-time options (position available between 0,8 and 1,0 FTE).
  • Year-end bonus and holiday allowance in accordance with the collective labour agreement; a year-end bonus of 8,3% and a holiday allowance of 8% apply.
