Strategic Advisor Mobility Transition

As Strategic Advisor Mobility Transition, you advise on and coordinate the sustainability of the vehicle fleet, and connect stakeholders within the municipality.

You are technically proficient and a connector: you get people on board with enthusiasm and drive. You have vision, exude authority, and enjoy delving into the details; you build relevant networks.

• Preferably a completed higher professional education (HBO) degree, for example in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, or Energy and Environmental Sciences.
• Interested in sustainability, sustainable mobility, and the energy transition.
• Strong in networking and making connections.
• Good at bringing structure, overview, and calm.
• Clear writing style and clear oral and written communication.

• Provide oral and written advice and act as advisor to the Sustainable Logistics Team Leader.
• Acting as a sub-project manager for projects such as the truck charging station and the buffer battery.
• Engaging the organization in the mobility transition and appropriately involving various teams.
• Establishing and maintaining connections within and outside City Management to promote the timely realization of projects.
• Giving presentations to various teams.
• Determining the charging capacity of locations with an eye to the future.
• Drafting policy and providing solicited and unsolicited advice.

• Start date: as soon as possible; it is important that you are available in week 30 (July 20–24, 2026) for a warm handover. Starting later is possible if you are available for a few half-days in week 30.
• Duration: at least until 31 December 2026, with possible extension.
• Number of hours per week: negotiable.
• Classification: scale 11, Municipalities Collective Labour Agreement, senior consultant.

The Municipality of Groningen is committed to a future-proof and sustainable vehicle fleet and aims for a fully zero-emission fleet by 2035. Projects such as a charging station for trucks and a buffer battery have been prepared and will be implemented in the short term.

The City Management Directorate works with approximately 700 employees on matters such as waste collection, circularity, events, winter road maintenance, equipment, pest control, tree maintenance, and lighting. You will work within the Operations department in the Sustainable Logistics team and have frequent contact with colleagues both within and outside Operations.
