Environmental manager
Description
Environmental Manager working in the planning phase of area development projects in Groningen and Drenthe. We are seeking an experienced environmental manager/(sub)project leader who forms the connecting link between policy, implementation, and the environment. You will be part of the Area Development Staff group and collaborate with colleagues within environmental management, technical management, project leadership, and consultancy.
Job requirements
- Minimum higher professional education work and thinking level.
- Several years of demonstrable experience as an environmental manager, project leader, or similar position.
- Demonstrable experience with area development and participation processes.
- Experience in rural areas is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of project management and experience in facilitating complex stakeholder processes.
- Strong communication, advisory, and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of political-administrative relations and administrative sensitivity.
- Connecting and environmentally sensitive, with the ability to independently take charge of processes.
- Result-oriented and strategic thinking, solution-oriented and proactive.
- Capable of bringing together diverse interests.
Tasks
- Directing area development processes within one or more sub-areas.
- Supporting and advising the senior project manager on environmental management, planning, and process control.
- Translating policy objectives into concrete area and design plans.
- Organizing and facilitating participation and area processes.
- Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
- Coordinating with landowners, farmers, nature organizations, municipalities, provinces, water boards, and other involved parties.
- Identifying opportunities, risks, and interests within projects.
- Facilitating decision-making and contributing to administrative coordination.
- Monitoring progress, quality, and support during the plan preparation phase.
- Collaborating on projects with project managers, ecologists, landscape architects, soil specialists, and employees of government agencies and organizations.

Together with government authorities, nature organizations, farmers, and other stakeholders, projects are being realized in the fields of nature development, water management, recreation, and agriculture. Within various regional programs, work is being done on complex spatial challenges where collaboration, broad support, and an integrated approach are essential.
