Agricultural Environmental Supervisor
Environmental Inspector in the Northern Netherlands inspects agricultural and industrial companies for compliance with the Environment and Planning Act. You conduct comprehensive inspections, identify violations, and prepare enforcement measures. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and at least one year of experience as an environmental inspector.
Description
As an Environmental Inspector, you work on current themes within the Environment and Planning Act, supporting authorities and businesses and overseeing compliance with environmental regulations in the agricultural and industrial sectors in the Northern Netherlands.
Job requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience as an environmental inspector at a municipality, province, or environmental agency.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the Environment and Planning Act, the Decree on Activities in the Living Environment (Bal), the Decree on Buildings in the Living Environment (Bbl), the Decree on the Quality of the Living Environment (Bkl), and relevant PGS guidelines.
- Preferably knowledge of the Environmental Management Act (preferred).
- Strong analytical skills and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to act in both an advisory and enforcement capacity and to carefully assess situations.
Tasks
- Conducting comprehensive inspections at agricultural and industrial companies, including Type A, B, and C establishments and IPPC companies.
- Assessing whether companies are acting in accordance with their Environmental Permit and relevant decrees, such as the Living Environment Activities Decree (Bal), the Living Environment Buildings Decree (Bbl), and the Living Environment Quality Decree (Bkl).
- Identifying violations and preparing clear reports.
- Preparing enforcement measures in collaboration with legal experts, such as a notice of intent to impose a penalty payment.
- Communicating constructively with entrepreneurs to implement areas for improvement and maintain a professional balance between compliance and collaboration.
