Plastics Mechanic
Description
As a Plastics Technician, you work in the heart of the industry on specialized piping systems and structures made of plastics and composites.
You work primarily at the Chemical Park in Delfzijl and contribute to safe and reliable maintenance and new construction projects. You combine practical craftsmanship with technical skills and alternate between on-site work and preparation in the workshop.
Job requirements
You are a practical technician with technical insight and experience at industrial sites. You do not need to be a plastics specialist yet; that knowledge is provided.
- Technical education, for example Mechanical Service and Maintenance, Construction Engineering, or similar.
- Experience in an industrial environment in a technical, hands-on role.
- VCA certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Safety awareness and accuracy in the work.
Tasks
- Wire welding, bonding, polyfusion welding, butt welding, IR welding and electrofusion welding, and the processing of plastic piping systems.
- Fitting and assembling (plastic) pipelines.
- Laminating plastic pipes and working with various types of plastics (including PVC, PE, PP, PVDF, PTFE, ECTFE, FEP, PMMA, PC, ABS, GRE, and GRP).
- Execution of construction work and assembly of installations.
- Preparing work and checking materials.
- Reading and applying technical drawings and work instructions.
- Identifying deviations, contributing ideas for improvements, and maintaining and inspecting existing installations.
- Working according to safety guidelines on industrial sites.
