Wubbo Ockels School
Climate change poses a huge threat to the future of our planet. The Wubbo Ockels School for Energy and Climate focuses on developing new insights and solutions that help society cope with its consequences. The global transition to renewable energy sources plays a central role in this.
Based in the Northern Netherlands, the School connects scientific research, education, and practice around energy and climate issues. We work interdisciplinary and in collaboration with other educational institutions, government bodies, businesses, and civil society organizations on themes such as hydrogen, reducing CO₂ emissions, and the role of active citizenship in the energy transition. In this way, we contribute to innovation, talent development, and a just and future-proof society.
Our motto is: Together for a greener and fairer energy transition. We are inspired by Wubbo Ockels' vision and his three principles:
- We are all astronauts of spaceship Earth
- Optimism about sustainability is a responsibility
- Sustainability is not less, but different and much more fun
