Stories of practice

Cor enjoys inventing things himself

Cor is a lecturer and researcher at Hanze University, where he works at the Entrance testcenter. There, all kinds of tests and experiments in the field of energy transition can be carried out.

Experimenting
Real installations and setups, such as hydrogen systems, are used here to ensure that experiments remain as close to real-world applications as possible. Cor's motivation stems from a strong technical curiosity and his fascination with new technological developments, particularly hydrogen. He believes that technical innovation is essential to enable the transition to sustainable energy and wants to actively contribute to this, also with an eye to future generations.

Hands-on approach
This curiosity translates into a hands-on approach: ideas arise everywhere and are tested and further developed together with students. Experiential learning is central to his work environment. Students are given considerable freedom to choose a subject that suits them, because, according to Cor, intrinsic motivation leads to better learning and better results. Cor's most important advice is to stay true to yourself. Choose a programme and specialisation that you truly enjoy, and ensure you have a broad technical foundation before specialising.
