Description
How do you make a roll-up television? How do you incorporate a substance into a medicine? As a chemist, you create new substances for sustainable products, medicines, or the plastics and food industries.
As a chemist, you'll be at the forefront of new medicines or creating plastics with unique properties. Or you'll contribute to a more sustainable world with energy generation solutions. In Groningen, for example, we created the flexible solar cell that can be incorporated into backpacks or window film. And the world's first molecular motor was also developed in Groningen, for which our Professor Ben Feringa won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2016.
In the Bachelor's program in Chemistry, you can choose from three tracks: Smart Materials, Sustainable Chemistry and Energy, or Chemistry of Life. In Groningen, you can switch between Chemistry and Chemical Engineering up until your second year. So you can discover what suits you best.
