First technician for refrigeration and air-conditioning systems
As a first-class refrigeration and climate control technician, you'll be responsible for installing refrigeration systems: air conditioners in schools and hospitals, climate control systems, and refrigeration and freezing systems in supermarkets and restaurants.
After completing your training, you'll be an expert in installation, electrical, and refrigeration technology. You'll also mentor and coach your colleagues.

Elective courses
During your studies, you'll take electives to broaden or deepen your knowledge. You're free to choose these subjects yourself. You decide what you enjoy or find interesting, or important for your future.
In this course you can choose from the following electives:

- Application of natural refrigerants in practice
The selection may vary. Your study advisor can help you make your choice.
Form of the training (program)
You'll be taking this course through the vocational training program (BBL). You'll work four days (at least 20 hours) per week and attend school one day a week. You'll have arranged your own placement with an accredited training company before starting this course. This means you're already employed.
Practical information
For this course you need at least one of the following diplomas or certificates:
- vmbo diploma vocational, mixed or theoretical learning pathway
- transition certificate from year 3 to year 4 of pre-university secondary education (havo) or pre-university education (vwo)
- MBO diploma level 2
