Description

Content of the training

In this program, students learn how innovation, climate stress, and business models influence the energy sector landscape and how energy shapes the role of companies and society in the future. Using Oxford-style scenario planning, students explore possible energy futures, learn to manage uncertainties, and identify key influencing factors. The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications, including field trips to energy companies, guest lectures by academics, politicians, and business leaders, and a project on scenario planning.

Form of the training (program)

The program consists of seven modules: Energy & Society (30 ECTS), Energy Technology (5 ECTS), Energy Transitions (5 ECTS), Energy Culture & Business (5 ECTS), Energy Scenario Planning (5 ECTS), Energy Governance (5 ECTS) and Project Sustainable Energy Management (5 ECTS). Theory, practical projects, and field trips are combined to develop strategic management skills. An international field trip to the International Energy Agency and the OECD in Paris is planned, but subject to scheduling.

Practical information

The program includes 30 ECTS and requires full availability throughout the entire duration. Students are expected to actively participate in all activities, including projects and excursions. The program is offered in collaboration with Energy Academy Europe and serves as a starting point for bachelor's and master's programs in energy at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen. The program is intensive and offers in-depth knowledge and skills for management decision-making in the energy sector.
