Description
As a Grid Planning & Analysis Specialist, you provide the analytical basis for future network design and investment decisions within the EHV networks (220/380 kV) and work in the Grid Solutions team within the Design division.
You translate complex system analyses into clear recommendations and work closely with internal departments, regulators, and regional partners to substantiate network development, congestion, and investment choices.
Job requirements
- Completed higher professional or university degree in electrical engineering.
- Demonstrable technical knowledge of infrastructures and network designs and experience with system studies.
- Several years, preferably >10 years, of relevant experience in modeling and analyzing network designs using tools such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, Vision, and scripting (e.g., Python).
- Strong analytical skills for problem analysis and assessing the feasibility of technical solutions.
- Experience with quality assurance and making trade-offs regarding conflicting interests to create support.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
- Persuasiveness, good judgment, and the ability to build connections in stressful situations.
- Skill in managing complexity and making timely, goal-oriented decisions.
Tasks
- Analyzing system developments, identifying bottlenecks, and developing grid and non-grid solutions.
- Conduct and lead grid planning and system studies to determine future system needs and evaluate potential network development pathways.
- Developing and maintaining regional grid visions and planning perspectives, together with grid operators, based on Investment Plan analyses, congestion studies, scenario assessments, and stakeholder insights.
- Developing and maintaining national network visions, taking into account developments such as offshore wind, (potential) nuclear energy, industry, and interconnections.
- Providing the analytical substantiation for network investment decisions (TollGate 1): identifying system bottlenecks, assessing alternative solutions, and supporting prioritization.
- Performing grid calculations for investment decisions and assessing future system behavior with regard to current flows, short-circuit values, reactive power, contingency analysis, and system stability.
- Contribute to harmonised methodologies, planning standards, and analytical frameworks for consistent network development across all project phases.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams and on-call services in collaboration with Onshore and Offshore, and support projects with clear design documentation and expertise.
