Technical Management Manager
Description
As Technical Management Manager, you lead the Technical Management department within the Facility Management division of the UMCG. You are part of the Management Team and report directly to the Director of Facility Management.
Job requirements
- Completed higher professional or university education, preferably in technology or technical business administration, with demonstrable technical expertise.
- Knowledge of and insight into strategic policy implementation in a changing, complex environment.
- Experience and affinity with a large healthcare organisation and with the management of buildings and technical infrastructure.
- Strong personality with a clear vision, strategic thinking ability, and decisiveness.
- Strong communication skills; a connecting style with humor and decisiveness.
- Demonstrable ability to bring people along in change processes; proactive and entrepreneurial attitude.
- Financially astute and able to manage within established frameworks.
- Analytical skills, creativity and innovation orientation.
- Perseverance, flexibility, and a focus on continuous personal and team development.
- Preferably has a relevant external network.
Tasks
- Leading the Technical Management department and placing trust in management and employees.
- Participation in the Management Team and contributing to the further development of the Facilities Department, with a focus on optimal service delivery, collaboration, attractive employer branding, and the use of data, technology, and AI.
- Developing and communicating the future vision for Technical Management and moving employees and management along with it.
- Guiding and professionalizing leadership, ownership, and continuous improvement and learning processes within the organisation.
- Driving the realization of financial and non-financial objectives in collaboration with the Management Team.
- Driving integrated policy development through standardization and process improvement.
- Chairing the sustainable energy/construction working group and steering the transition to sustainable energy, including the implementation of the CO2 roadmap.
- Providing vision and direction for asset information management to support maintenance decisions, investment choices, and strategic considerations.
- Critically manage operating costs (OPEX) and factor in maintenance plan/capital expenditure decisions for new real estate developments.
- Maintaining a network and representing Technical Management in consultations with internal and external stakeholders, such as the RUG and the municipality, for the development of the campus.
- Ensuring the integral facilitation of activities and developments on the Healthy Ageing Campus.
Working conditions
Employment contract for one year with the prospect of a permanent position. A suitable offer will be made depending on education and relevant experience. You will receive an 8% holiday allowance, an 8,3% end-of-year bonus, a budget for development, and pension accrual with the ABP, where 70% of the premium is reimbursed by the employer. The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for University Medical Centres (CAO-UMC). An assessment may be part of the procedure.
Description of the organisation
The UMCG Facilities Department is committed to developing and maintaining a healthy and functional environment for everyone connected to the Healthy Ageing Campus. The Facilities Department contributes to the UMCG's mission and the Koers30 strategy, in which sustainability is one of the core elements.
- The Facilities Department has approximately 879 employees, distributed across six departments and a staff.
- The Technical Management department consists of approximately 95 employees, including four department heads and one team leader, and is responsible for the management and maintenance of buildings and grounds, as well as making the energy supply on campus more sustainable.
- The components of the Facilities Department are: Technical Management; Facility Services; Supply Chain; Accommodation Management; Facilities Noordpunt; Safety & Environment; and the staff for secretarial support, parking, and Arts Affairs.
