- Position is unpaid; the above standard employment terms do not apply to unpaid staff.
- The affiliated humanist foundation provides an annual expense allowance to support the work.
- Appointment is 0.2 FTE (eight hours per week); reappointment is possible after evaluation.
- 232 vacation hours per year based on a 38-hour workweek, with the option to work more or fewer hours in exchange for more or fewer free hours.

The host is a research-oriented university with an open academic community that emphasizes interdisciplinary research and teaching, and collaboration with businesses, government institutions, and societal organizations.
The Faculty of Philosophy is a small-scale faculty with approximately ninety staff and around 480 students, organized into three departments: Theoretical Philosophy; History of Philosophy and Ethics; and Social and Political Philosophy. The faculty values both fundamental and applied research and is known for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary work.
The interfaculty Centre for Philosophy, Politics, and Economics facilitates research collaboration on themes related to the chair, including organizational ethics, feminist philosophy, philosophy and policy, financial ethics, sustainable banking, and finance.
The Socrates Foundation promotes the exchange of ideas on fundamental societal and cultural issues confronting modern humanism and supports scientific reflection on the foundations of humanism, including the establishment of humanist special chairs.
