• Degree in finance at least at higher national education (HBO) level, preferably with several years' work experience in finance.
• Affinity for project administration and project monitoring/budget management.
• Flair for figures, a proactive attitude and a broad range of interests.
• Analytical and decisive approach with a good sense of prioritisation.
• Experience with Excel and automated (financial) ERP systems.
• Good communication skills in both spoken and written English; preferably Dutch as well.

• Implement operational policies, such as managing and monitoring staffing levels and finances.
• Prepare internal and external financial reports.
• Support direct and indirect funded research by assisting project leaders with grant applications, communicating with internal and external partners and funders, and monitoring funded projects in close collaboration with the Project Control department.
• Manage contracts, advise on contract terms and related financial aspects, and liaise and coordinate with various stakeholders and the ABJZ department.
• Perform (financial) administrative tasks related to staff appointments.
• Advise budget holders on the structure and feasibility of budgets.
• Advise on external funding and grant opportunities and conditions, and, if necessary, support project leaders in negotiations together with the Funding Officer.
• Provide financial management reports on projects to project leaders, budget holders, institute management, controllers, and/or faculty management.
• Review reimbursements and invoices for accuracy and completeness and ensure timely payment.
• Monitor budget execution, identify (imminent) project budget overruns, and ensure that project budgets are not exhausted.

• In accordance with the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities.
• End-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 8% holiday allowance.

• Temporary appointment of 0,8 - 0,1 fte for a duration of one year, with the possibility of extension to a contract for an indefinite period.
• Subject to satisfactory performance and unchanged business circumstances, the position may be converted to a contract for an indefinite period after one year if the Collective Labour Agreement stipulates that it concerns a structural position/role.
• You can work more or fewer hours in exchange for more or fewer free hours.

The Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence is a research institute within the Faculty of Science and Engineering with approximately 250 researchers. The institute's staff is international and, in many cases, English is the working language. The institute office is managed by the institute manager and consists of a seven-member secretariat, a PhD coordinator/Funding Officer and a business coordinator.
