Omschrijving
Fully funded postdoctoral researcher position at the University of Groningen within the ML-GUIDE consortium. The project aims to make directed evolution guidable and ultimately predictable by machine learning. The role focuses on interfacing state-of-the-art sequencing techniques with machine-learning approaches to accelerate the directed evolution of tailored biomolecules. You will be embedded in the research environment led by Prof. Clemens Mayer.
Functie eisen
- PhD (or equivalent) in (Bio)chemistry, Bioinformatics, Synthetic Chemistry/Biology, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in preparation and analysis of next-generation sequencing libraries in the context of directed evolution.
- First-hand experience with third-generation sequencing technologies or interfacing sequencing data with machine-learning is a plus.
- Proven publication record in international peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Experience supervising BSc/MSc/PhD students is an advantage.
- Proactive and motivated approach to identifying research opportunities and contributing to project and team success.
Taken
- Lead next-generation and third-generation sequencing campaigns to support directed evolution experiments.
- Generate, process and valorize sequencing data to enable accelerated Design–Build–Test–Learn cycles.
- Improve models via active learning and use sequencing data to guide evolutionary trajectories toward promising sequence space.
- Drive sequencing-driven design of high-affinity binders and efficient biocatalysts for therapeutic and synthetic applications.
- Closely collaborate with research groups within the ML-GUIDE consortium to integrate sequencing and machine-learning efforts.
