As a Grid Planning & Analysis Specialist you provide the analytical foundation for future grid development and investment decisions. You analyse system developments, identify bottlenecks, develop grid and non-grid solutions, and translate complex analyses into clear recommendations within the Grid Solutions team focused on extra high‑voltage networks.
Functie eisen
- Completed HBO or WO education in electrical engineering.
- Demonstrable technical knowledge of infrastructures and grid designs, with experience in system studies.
- Relevant multi‑year work experience in creating models for and analysing grid designs, preferably more than 10 years.
- Experience using tools such as PSS/E, PowerFactory and Vision, including scripting (via Python).
- Strong analytical skills to perform problem analyses and assess technical feasibility of solutions.
- Experience with quality assurance and the ability to understand conflicting interests to make trade‑offs and create support.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, including clear written and presentation abilities.
- Strong persuasiveness, good judgement and the ability to weigh interests and build bridges in stressful situations.
- Competencies such as managing complexity, decisiveness, fostering innovation, optimizing work processes, organizational sensitivity, persuasiveness and collaboration.

- Assess grid strategy alternatives, system development scenarios and network expansion options within the assigned region.
- Lead and coordinate grid planning and system studies to assess future system needs, identify constraints and evaluate potential network development pathways.
- Develop and maintain regional grid visions together with DSOs and planning perspectives by translating Investment Plan analyses, congestion studies, scenario assessments and stakeholder insights into coherent system development strategies.
- Develop and maintain national grid vision and planning perspectives by translating Investment Plan analyses, strategic studies, scenario assessments and stakeholder insights into coherent network development strategies.
- Provide the analytical foundation for network investment decisions (TollGate 1) by identifying system constraints, assessing alternative solutions and supporting prioritization of reinforcement and expansion projects.
- Perform grid calculations for investment decisions and assess future grid and system behaviour, particularly regarding power flows, short circuit levels, reactive power, contingency analyses and system stability.
- Contribute to harmonized grid development methodologies, planning standards and analytical frameworks to ensure consistency across project phases.
- Translate grid analyses, congestion assessments, scenarios, asset strategies and energy market developments into clear grid visions and recommendations.
- Work closely with internal colleagues and external stakeholders, participate in multidisciplinary teams and support preparation and implementation of investment projects with design documents and technical expertise.

Design maintains a front‑row view of today's and tomorrow's energy system and determines long‑term needs to ensure security of supply and system integrity. The Grid Solutions team within Design works on the extra high‑voltage grid (220/380 kV) and collaborates closely with colleagues from Design, Operate, Onshore, Offshore and external stakeholders such as DSOs, government authorities, regulators and regional energy partners.
